Pad is how carpet lasts
Daily use, furniture and foot traffic wear carpet down faster than most people expect. Without support underneath, the fibers crush sooner and the surface loses its look. Quality pad absorbs the impact and helps the carpet hold its shape for longer.
That is why we do not suggest reusing old pad under new carpet. Pad that has been walked on for years is compressed and worn, and it undercuts the feel and lifespan of what you just bought. New pad is a small slice of the total cost, and it protects the bigger investment.

Quieter rooms, warmer floors
Sound moving between rooms or floors wears on a busy household, and bare floors run cold through a Yakima winter. Carpet pad soaks up sound and adds a layer of insulation, so rooms feel calmer and warmer underfoot.
